We're not stocking this record. And we're not going to.
There's been all sorts of talk about not only this band, but this record label. We try to keep out of it as much as possible, and let people make up their own mind. Bands and managers can advise whats right or not. Victory has put out some amazing albums, and has, it appears, had some contentious agreements with bands over the last decade. But Emmure is a different thing. We're not for censorshop, but there has to be a point where you just say enough's enough. This isnt Touche Amore where an offensive shirt has reason behind it, whether or not you agree with it. This is a band whose frontman's clothing company put Columbine pictures on shirts to make bucks.
The new album, which kicks off with 'Bring A Gun To School' doesnt even glorify gun culture or the horrific damage which is done by it. It dumbs it down. It makes it seem like a joke. And none of this is a joke.
Every day we see kids into hardcore, punk, emo, metal and alternative music. And we are constantly explaining to people about the importance of this music's place. We love the progression and the intelligence behind it, and we love how music can help shape young adults become better people. Emmure is so far away from this. It's time to call some bands and some thoughts out. There's a worry that people at shops, distros and labels don't even know of what is a pretty disgusting thing going on. But it wont be going on here.
