Mug Shots Vol 1: Remixes By Jehst

‘Mug Shots’ is a new series of remix albums based around the catalog of Tea Sea Records. The label has put out some cross Atlantic projects over the past decade which include a plethora of vocal performances from the likes of Masta Ace, Sadat X and Quelle Chris just to name a few. With this new series we see prominent players reworking the material from the label.

With remixes of songs by Son Of Sam, Boog Brown and Tom Caruana, UK hip-hop legend Jehst is in the 'Mug Shots' hot seat. He kicked it off with a reworking of Son Of Sam’s ‘Come A Long Way’ feat. Masta Ace & Large Professor. The second single ‘Laurent Perrier’ is a remix of a track from Tom Caruana’s ‘Brewing Up’ album and features one of the UK’s hardest working MCs right now; Sonnyjim.

‘Mug Shots Vol. 1’ features 6 brand new remixes with elements of both 90’s boom bap and the new wave of indie hip-hop artists like Armand Hammer’s billy woods and Denmark Vessey - both of whom appear on the closing track ‘Saltfish’. Jehst paints sonic backdrops for each vocalist, matching their energy and tone perfectly.
