This volume sees the release of a unique and indispensable collection of Vladimir Horowitz playing Chopin. The new Sony Classical box gathers together solo Chopin recordings that the piano wizard set down for RCA and CBS/Sony between 1928, when he was 25, and 1989, the year he died. Also released in this volume is Leonard Bernstein’s electrifying recordings of the complete Tchaikovsky symphonies in the 1960s and early 70s. This cycle for American Columbia includes Bernstein’s only versions on disc of the first three symphonies as well as superb performances of No. 4.
