They've always mixed up musical genres but this is something extra, as the cream of drum & bass label Hospital Records remix the entire recent album The Mindsweep. The likes of Metrik, S.P.Y, Danny Byrd, London Elektricity, Lynx and way more each give new interpretations to these brilliant tracks. We’ve always been big on our B-sides and remixes, with every album we've always tried to get a load of drum & bass remixes done. Hospital-wise we did one with High Contrast around the time of our second album ‘Common Dreads’, for instance. While we were making ‘The Mindsweep’ we started the idea of having a consolidated collection of just d’n'b tracks. Enter Shikari Moratorium (Broadcasts From The Interruption) A companion collection to the excellent 2020 album Nothing Is True And Everything Is Possible from the Kingston visitors Enter Shikari. Collecting alternative, acoustic and 'recorded at home' versions of selected tracks from their back-catalogue alongside a much-wanted release for the cover of David Bowie's classic, Heroes. The band chose the best & most interesting from the large available selection of performances - originally created for media outlets such as Kerrang & Rock Sound in the UK, Russia’s Afisha & Snob magazines (and even a UK daytime TV slot on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch), along with special performances for 2000 Trees and Five 4 Five’s online festivals - and these have now been properly mixed by Rou Reynolds, mastered and compiled for worldwide release. "With no live shows, and no real contact with the rest of the band, it was nice to at least be able to do some remote sessions together. It was also interesting to develop acoustic and alternative versions of some of the new tracks. These performances went some way to filling the gaping hole in our lives!" Moratorium also includes two special solo acoustic performances recorded by Reynolds especially for the release, which see him accompanied be Bulgaria’s Sofia Session Orchestra. These include a drastically reworked version of Nothing Is True & Everything Is Possible’s lead single The Dreamer’s Hotel : "After creating an acoustic version of The Dreamer's Hotel to play during lockdown livestreams, I began to think that this rather dulcet adaption could benefit from some orchestral parts. Enter Shikari Common Dreads (10th Anniversary) A long-awaited reissue of Banquet friends Enter Shikari's second full length album Common Dreads. Now celebrating it's tenth anniversary, the vinyl was initially released on a very limited run and has been fetching up massive 2nd hand prices over the last decade. It's the first record that saw the band being very direct and open with their political and social lyrics, also seeing them push more into their electronic, DNB, hip-hop and techno influences. A landmark album that can't be categorized to any one genre. "Common Dreads has been out of print on vinyl for over a decade, and to be honest we’re fed up with the constant whinging for us to do a repress. So, here it bloody well is," shared Enter Shikari frontman Rou Reynolds. “In all seriousness, we’re really happy to be able to revisit this album. It feels quite prescient, looking back on all that’s happened in the world since. We addressed some of the same crucial global problems that increasingly plague us today. People who didn’t understand the lyrics of 'Take To The Skies' thought that 'Common Dreads' was our first record with political commentary when it was actually just our first with an overt political commentary.
