Tickets available on the door, see you there! Following the recent catastrophic events in Japan, New Slang will be holding a fundraising event for the Japan Tsunami Appeal (in support of the British Red Cross) 100% of the door money will be going to the fund so come down and let's raise as much money as we can! Loads of bands got in touch to play. Its obviously something that struck a chord with many a new slang-er. Its fitting that the bands we've chosen to play are all from the Kingston environs. KURRAN AND THE WOLFNOTES - brilliant indie / folk with releases on Chess Club and Communion. They've headlined for us and are proper New Slang faves. ARCANE ROOTS - edgy melodic rock with a new digital album out now via their bandcamp KID CHAMPION - literally championed by Darren Parker with his Twickenham nights at The Bear, a new slang debut for the local three piece. JAMIE THORN - Sunbury folk artist, close to a boy version of Laura Marling KATIE MALCO - Musical folk/guitar/pop nomad with a Bright Eyes / Joanna Newsome influence RAGGYBONES - playing a "busking set" this is great grugg DIY folk-punk... After the bands it'll be your regular New Slang DJs to play tunes till 2AM. Tickets will be priced at 4 with all ticket/door money going to the Japan Tsunami Appeal (in benefit of the British Red Cross). New Slang DJ, Sean, comments "Like everyone, I watched the news aghast as last weeks terrible events unfolded. I'm fortunate enough to have recently visited Japan, and it is genuinely the most fantastic place I have ever been to. The people are hospitable and overwhelmingly friendly, and this disaster could not be more undeserved. As soon as I can get back there, I will. It's a small thing for us to do to help in some way, but we hope you can join us to contribute what we can. Love you Japan." - he speaks for us all there... Doors 9pm. Please Note: The Hippodrome is an 18+ Venue, Valid PHOTO ID will be required
