Say Anything In Defense Of The Genre Double LP on 180g 'smoke' coloured vinyl.Vinyl reissue of the classic third full length album from the mighty Say Anything.In 2000, Max Bernis formed the American rock band Say Anything together with some friends. Up until 2018, when the band went on a hiatus, they released eight studio albums. In 2007 they released their third studio album In Defense of the Genre. Bernis mentioned on the album that “musically, it’s different, more mature and somewhat more cohesive and poppy, but darker in a whole different way”.The album features 23 individual guest appearances, including Gerard Way (My Chemical Romance), Pete Yorn, Anna Waronker (That Dog), Adam Lazzara (Talking Back Sunday), Aaron Gillespie (Underoath, The Almost), Matt Skiba (Blink-182, Alkaline Trio) and Haylay Williams (Paramore) amongst others.The cover art was designed by Jeff Smith, who is best known as the creator of the comic book series Bone.In Defense of the Genre is available as a limited edition of 1500 individually numbered copies on smoke coloured vinyl. Say Anything Hebrews Epic new album from Banquet Faves Say Anything that features 16 (!!!) guest vocalists from Manchester Orchestra's Andy Hull, Get UP Kids' Matt Pryor to Everytime I Die's Keith Buckley and Blink 182's Tom DeLonge. The most notable aspect of this album is the lack of guitars which have been replaced with string & piano orchestrations! "This has easily been the most gratifying and fun making a record has ever been. The sort of theatrical bent of the music is something that's always been a part of Say Anything since our first official record, but I think when you take that kind of music and play it on stringed instruments and various keyboards and harp and fiddle and stuff like that, it makes it sound more like a musical or classical music or something. Everything he needed to say combined with some glorious song structures ended up creating a brilliant, and completely varied set of life affirming songs all on this one timeless LP.
