They'll be dropping by the shop to play an intimate all ages set in celebration of the release of their new EP Exit, Pursued By A Bear which comes out the same week! 6pm start with all ages welcome. Just before Christmas and a few weeks before the release of their new album, To Kill A King return to play at New Slangta! They're no strangers to Banquet and it's lovely to know they'll be celebrating the New Slang Christmas with us and their third album The Spiritual Dark Age. If you're not yet familiar with them, they play a wonderful blend of folk-driven indie-pop that have plenty of dynamics and big hooks. Jump right into it if you're into Of Monsters & Men, Augustines or Bear's Den. We reckon there'll be a couple of festive tunes in the set too! “The Spiritual Dark Age is the last three years of my life painstakingly distilled into 40 minutes of music,” says frontman Ralph Pelleymounter of the album. “It has ballads for my single friends watching everyone else gradually pair off, and deities and fables getting drunk in bars. It has moments of anger and disgust at characters like Peter Popoff and their parasitic feeding of the most vulnerable people, and it has folk songs about two gods who’d rather burn down the world than admit they still love each other. The new-folk / indie-pop band have visited Kingston a good number of times and it's great to welcome them back. We know just how good their stripped back sets are... Pick up a copy of their RSD 7" The Promise Of Evil / I Need My Girl (cover of The National) on the day and catch their set. Priority will be given to anyone who buys a copy of The Problem Of Evil Record Store Day release from us on the 22nd.
