The B-Side of the TAPE edition includes exclusive audio content with demos, acoustic versions, spoken word pieces. The new full length album from the awesome electronic-indie-rockers We Are Scientists, following on from 2018's Megaplex. The intoxicating, high-octane hit is set to soundtrack a surge of pent-up revelry and romance throughout the summer of 2021, as it ushers in a bold new chapter for the band. Lifted from the new album Huffy - also announced today for release on 8th October 2021 - the band have revealed the secret ingredients of the lead single’s winning formula...? "Love songs can easily be goofy and embarrassing, and so I sometimes have a hard time writing songs that are unambiguously romantic", states singer and guitarist Keith Murray, before adding that, "Contact High really nails that heady rush of full-throttle infatuation for me, though, because it evokes my trifecta of mood-altering stimuli — dizzying romantic interaction, rousing music, and second-hand contact with psychoactive chemicals (in descending order of personal preference)." Drawing as much from the angular guitar-driven sounds of their debut as it does from the finest in modern rock today, 'Contact High' is raising the bar for the decade ahead. Celebrating the song's potent delivery and unashamed lyrical sentiment, Murray concludes... "it’s just nice to have a song that’s unapologetically sappy, but couched in distorted guitar and metaphors of coincidental intoxication."

Tuesday 1st May
at The Fighting Cocks
SOLD OUT. no tickets on the door.
In the week their new album is released We Are Scientists play at The Fighting Cocks.
They're back and celebrating the release of their new album titled Megaplex. It's affirming to know that a band headlining Shepherds Bush will be visiting to play in the 150 cap Kingston venue The Fighting Cocks. They play unique and crafted indie-rock with colourful electronics and plenty of pop for the fans of The Horrors, LCD Soundsystem, and Django Django.
"At this point in our career, we’ve written so many songs,” explains Keith. “The pool for this record alone was something like 90 songs deep - that we know exactly what we want out of a We Are Scientists record. We want it to be taut, to bang hard, to have a big hook every four seconds or so. We don’t have to be precious about which songs make it onto a record; we can listen to the ones that didn’t make it at home, on our own time. ‘Megaplex’ is just the ten most delicious songs that we have - a stacked-up compound of entertainment."
It's been a long, long time since the band have been in Kingston, they were last here ten years ago when they visited the shop and played at The Hippodrome (back then it was still called The Works!) and we're super excited for their return.
Support for this show is coming from Indian Queens.
