The Good Life
Black Out
Expected 6th AprilSecond album from Tim Kasher's The Good Life With The Good Life's Black Out, Tim Kasher set out to capture something entirely different from his earlier efforts with Cursive as well as the debut release from The Good Life, Novena on a Nocturn (Better Looking Records, 2000). With upbeat, keyboard driven pop songs intermixed between sparse, vocal driven stories of drunken disappointment, The Good Life's Black Out is a conceptually and musically rich album by five musicians that have blossomed from a solo effort into a full-time band. After the success of Novena on a Nocturn, Kasher along with keyboardist Jiha Lee, drummer Roger Lewis, guitarist Landon Hedges and multi-instrumentalist Ryan Fox endeavored to create and arrange something larger in scope and density. The result is the moody, ever changing sound of Black Out, which has succeeded in capturing and showcasing the many facets of Tim Kasher's songwriting ability.

This is an exclusive release for Record Store Day 2022. Available from Saturday 23rd April over the counter, with online sales beginning at 8:00pm on Friday 29th April. Click notify me above to be kept up to date. Not long before recording his first songs for Bright Eyes, 14-year-old singer-songwriter Conor Oberst co-founded Commander Venus alongside bassist (and future Cursive frontman) Tim Kasher, guitarist Robb Nansel (now president of Saddle Creek Records), and drummer Matt Bowen (who would soon join the Faint and be replaced by Ben Armstrong). After releasing their 1995 debut, Do You Feel at Home?, the Omaha indie rockers caught the attention of Wind-up Records, who backed the group’s sophomore album, The Uneventful Vacation. While The Uneventful Vacation marked the musicians’ final record together, before they each embarked on their next ventures, this formative album has since become a cult favorite in the ’90s emo canon. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the album, this reissue features red and black smoke vinyl and all-analog mastering from the original tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearant Audio. Limited to 4,600 units worldwide, this edition also includes the bonus track “Congratulations!,” which appeared on the original vinyl release.

Bridge And Tunnel
Rebuilding Year
Released late September / October on No Idea Records - The second album recorded & mixed by J. Robbins (Against Me!, Jawbreaker, Lemuria, Small Brown Bike) at The Magpie Cage in Baltimore. Coloured vinyl comes in a gatefold jacket with download code. Sonically anchored by a guitar-driven melodicism reminiscent of later-era Small Brown Bike, Bridge and Tunnel harness the explosive, angular technique employed by luminaries like Fugazi and Cursive to convey a cutting sense of immediacy and intensity. Bookended by soaring atmospheric compositions, the roots of the album lie in a commanding mastery of complex rhythm and a precision born of both tireless effort and innate chemistry. Above it all, their voices weave together through a range of emotionally-laden tones as somber harmonies flip on a fill to a wrenching howl that echoes the desperation and defiance they’ve put to paper. “Bridge and Tunnel pull risky maneuvers on their sophomore full-length. Opening with their longest song to date, ‘Synchronized Swimming’ (a nearly six-minute stunner that moves from haunting to beautiful in under 45 seconds), it’s an epic achievement that shows just how brilliant and passionate the New York act can be. From the aggressive prog-hardcore of ‘Outgrowing Pains’ to the emotive break in ‘Drill Instructor,’ the band continue to ply their trade via countless guitar pedals, mathy rhythms and intelligent metaphors detailing the panic involved in honest, urban living... this is the type of forward thinking that doesn’t turn up nearly often enough in punk.” - Brian Schultz, Alternative Press
